An Istria wedding feels closer to Italy than to Dalmatia — and geographically that's about right. Rolling inland hills, hilltop stone towns, olive groves that go on for kilometres, and a coast of small Venetian harbours from Rovinj down to Pula. If you want green rather than white stone, Istria is the side of the country you're picturing.

The food, honestly
Istria is a food region. Truffles from Motovun, oysters from Limski Kanal, Malvazija whites, dry-cured pršut. Even a small wedding here can eat extraordinarily well without an event caterer. This is where the budget bends most in your favour.

Why Istria specifically?
Because it feels different from the Dalmatian coast further south. Less rugged, greener, more Venetian. If you're picturing olive groves, hilltop towns and a very good kitchen more than turquoise water and stone islands, Istria is probably the place.
When is the best time?
May through October. May and June are our favourite for the flowers and cooler days; September for warm evenings without midsummer heat. Istria stays green longer than the south.
How do guests get here?
The easiest airports are Pula (in Istria itself), Trieste (30 min north, Italy) and Venice (2.5 hours). Rovinj, Bale and Motovun are all within a comfortable drive.
