A Dubrovnik wedding tends to fall into one of two moods. Either the city itself — a ceremony on a terrace inside the walls, dinner in a fifteenth-century courtyard — or the islands just offshore, where the noise of the old town disappears and it's suddenly just you, olive trees and the sea.
Where couples marry around Dubrovnik
- The old town — private terraces above the walls, small palazzo courtyards, best in early morning or after sunset
- Cavtat — a small harbour town 20 minutes south, boutique hotels on the water, close to the airport
- Lopud (Elaphiti Islands) — a car-free island with a restored monastery and a wide sandy beach
- Boat — the Elaphiti loop is one of the best day-sailing routes for a small wedding on this coast
Practical bits
Dubrovnik airport is close and busy in season, which is good for guests coming from far. From there it's twenty minutes to Cavtat, thirty to the old town, and roughly an hour to a boat leaving from Gruž port. If most of your guests are travelling, this is the easiest wedding region in the country.

Why Dubrovnik specifically?
Because within thirty minutes of the airport you can be on a terrace above the sea, on a fifteenth-century courtyard, or on a boat drifting past the Elaphiti Islands. Few coastal cities give you that range in that little space.
When is the best time of year?
Late May, early June and the first three weeks of September. July and August work if you stay off the main tourist axis — Cavtat, Lopud, the Elaphiti — and avoid holding a ceremony inside the old walls at midday.
How do guests get here?
Dubrovnik has direct flights from most European hubs in summer. The airport is 20 minutes from Cavtat, 30 from the old town. Boats to Lopud and the Elaphiti Islands leave from Dubrovnik's Gruž port.
Can we hold the wedding inside the old town walls?
Yes, in a handful of private venues. The trade-off is that the old town is busy in high season — great for photos in the early morning, less great for an outdoor ceremony at three in the afternoon. We usually suggest hybrid days: old town in the morning, quieter setting for dinner.
